The Mission of Wayland Baptist Church (Baltimore, Maryland USA) is to:

1. Worship the Lord in Spirit and in Truth,


2. Evangelize the unsaved,


3. Disciple the saved, and


4. Give strong witness to an unsure generation.

The Mission is accomplished as we receive and act upon the commission given to us, the church, by Christ Jesus as noted in the following scriptures:

Matthew 28:19-20

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Mark 16:15-19

Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Luke 24:45-50

This is what is written: the Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things and I am going to send you what my Father has promised, but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.

John 21:16-19

When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John do you truly love me more than these“? “Yes Lord”, he said, you know that I love you. Jesus said, “Feed my lambs”, “Follow Me.”

Acts 1:8

It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.

The immediate charge of the Wayland Baptist Church is to the communities of Forest Park and Gwynn Oak in the northwest District of Baltimore City; however, our calling is to reach as many as should be saved wherever they may be.
